An eWay Bill is mandatory for movement of goods valued above ₹50,000 across state borders. Many states also require it for intra-state movements above the threshold. Exceptions exist for certain goods like fruits, vegetables, and goods moved for personal use. LEDGERS auto-checks applicability based on invoice value and supply type.

Can I edit or cancel an eWay Bill from LEDGERS?

Accepted Answer

Yes. For active bills, you can update permitted fields such as vehicle number, transport document number, and transporter ID where NIC rules allow. You can also cancel an active eWay Bill within 24 hours of generation by providing a reason code - all from within LEDGERS.

How does LEDGERS connect to the government eWay Bill system?

Accepted Answer

LEDGERS submits your eWay Bill data through the NIC APIs on your behalf. After you complete invoice, party, item, and transport details, pressing Create eWay Bill runs the authentication, validation, and submission. You see the final eWay Bill number, QR code, and status inside LEDGERS.

Does LEDGERS support QR codes for eWay Bills?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Every generated eWay Bill includes the NIC-issued QR code for quick verification at checkpoints. You can view the QR on screen, download it as part of the PDF, and share it with transporters and logistics partners directly from LEDGERS.

What about multi-vehicle and multi-part movements?

Accepted Answer

LEDGERS supports Part B updates for vehicle changes during transit, consolidated eWay Bills for multiple consignments in one vehicle, and extension of validity when goods cannot be delivered within the original timeframe - all through the same interface.

How long is an eWay Bill valid?

Accepted Answer

Validity depends on the distance: 1 day for every 200 km for regular cargo, and 1 day per 20 km for over-dimensional cargo. LEDGERS shows the validity period and expiry date on each bill. You can extend validity before expiry if goods are in transit.
