How many branches can I add in LEDGERS?

LEDGERS supports unlimited branch creation. You can add as many branches, offices, or outlets as your business has across the UAE, each with its own Emirate, address, and contact details.

Does each branch need its own VAT registration (TRN)?

Accepted Answer

No. Under UAE VAT law, your TRN is issued at the legal entity level, not per branch. All branches operate under one TRN, while VAT filing and returns are managed centrally through your Primary branch.

What is the difference between Primary and regular branches?

Accepted Answer

The Primary branch is the default entity used for invoicing, VAT filing, and top-level reporting. You can change the primary branch at any time from the Branch Details settings.

Can I deactivate a branch without losing data?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Setting a branch to Inactive hides it from active operations but all historical records, transactions, and reports for that branch remain safely stored and accessible.

Can users be restricted to specific branches?

Accepted Answer

Yes. LEDGERS supports role-based access at the branch level. You can assign users to one or multiple branches and control what they can view or manage within each.

Is branch management available on mobile?

Accepted Answer

Branch configuration is available on the web dashboard. Once set up, branch context is accessible across the LEDGERS mobile apps for Android and iOS.

Does deactivating a branch affect its past invoices or reports?

Accepted Answer

No. Setting a branch to Inactive only hides it from active operations and new transactions. All previously recorded invoices, expenses, and reports for that branch remain fully accessible in your reporting and audit trail.

Can I rename a branch or update its address later?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Branch name, Emirate, address, and contact details can be edited at any time from the Branch Details screen. Updates apply going forward and don't alter previously issued invoices.

Is there a limit on how many users I can assign to a branch?

Accepted Answer

No. You can assign any number of users to a branch based on your team size, and a single user can also be granted access to multiple branches if their role requires it.

Which Emirates are supported for branch setup?

You can create branches in any Emirate  Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah, or Fujairah  and switch between them from a single LEDGERS workspace.

How do I switch my working context between branches?

Accepted Answer

Use the branch switcher available in the top navigation bar. Selecting a branch scopes invoices, expenses, and reports to that location until you switch again  admins can jump between all branches from one login.

What happens to existing invoices if I change the primary branch?

Accepted Answer

Nothing changes on past invoices. Changing the primary branch only affects the default entity used for new invoices, VAT filing, and top-level reports going forward. Historical documents keep the branch details they were created with.

Yes. Your TRN is issued once at the legal entity level under UAE VAT law, so every branch operates under the same registration. LEDGERS still lets you track sales, expenses, and reports separately per branch for internal visibility.

What roles are allowed to create or edit branches?

Only admin and owner roles can create, edit, or change the status of a branch by default. Branch-level users can view the branches they're assigned to but cannot modify branch configuration unless granted elevated permissions.

Yes. When assigning branch access, you can limit a user to a single branch so they only see and operate on data for that location, which is common for branch managers and location-specific staff.

Yes. Every status change (Active/Inactive) and primary branch reassignment is logged with the user and timestamp, so admins can review who made configuration changes and when.

Yes. Reactivating a branch instantly restores it to the active list along with all its historical transactions, invoices, and reports  there's no data loss during the inactive period.
